The problem
On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GIZ launched the #Innovate2030 program, focused on Sustainable Development Goal 11, together with the open innovation platform ekipa. GIZ sought ideas to make cities and communities more sustainable and resilient - with the goal of connecting promising teams and solutions with policymakers and suitable companies or funding opportunities.
But how could the valuable challenge reach the right target audience to ultimately inspire program partners to create strong, innovative submissions?
Our solution
We supported the project organizationally, providing strategic partner management and acquisition, both of which were particularly relevant to the project's success. In addition, we took control of the content creation and format development of the boot camp that followed the challenge. We designed an exciting and productive digital and global exchange of selected talks and master classes that crossed borders and time zones. As part of the project, we managed partnerships and collaborations between GIZ and Fraunhofer Venture, UNICEF, UNDP, Phineo, Data Natives, and many more.
Our impact
We supported 27 strategic partners and collaborations during this project, from the qualification to the elaboration phase. During the program call itself, nearly 1,000 innovators from over 65 countries submitted their ideas and projects. Of these, almost 100 of the invited finalists took part in the digital bootcamp. We implemented the project in close collaboration with the digilab and ekipa teams.
